The drive up the mountain is steep and winding in spots and may feel intimidating to some; the driveway is also steep. 2WD works in normal weather, but 4WD is strongly recommended in rain, ice, or snow. This area has routine bear visitors, so please keep a safe distance, lock your car doors, and never leave food in your vehicle. Standard Bear Advisory: • Never approach, feed, or attempt to interact with bears • Keep all food, trash, and scented items secured at all times • Do not leave food or coolers on decks or porches • Keep vehicles locked and free of food or wrappers • Maintain a minimum of 150 feet if you encounter a bear • Make noise and slowly back away — never run • Notify us immediately if a bear becomes persistent or aggressive ⚠️ BEFORE YOU BOOK — Things to Know Before You Book! • Mountain Roads: The drive in includes some steep, winding hills (all paved) — very typical for the Smokies and part of the mountain experience. It may feel a bit adventurous if you're not used to mountain driving. 4WD is required during inclement weather. • Steep Driveway: The driveway is also steep. 2WD is fine in normal weather, but 4WD is recommended during rain, ice, or snow. • Remote & Peaceful: The cabin is tucked away in a quiet, natural setting perfect for unplugging and relaxing. While it feels secluded, you’re still just 11 miles from downtown Gatlinburg and close to major attractions. • Bear Activity: This area experiences frequent bear activity, especially during warmer months. For your safety: • Never approach, feed, or attempt to interact with bears • Keep a minimum of 150 feet if you see one • Do not leave food, trash, coolers, or scented items outside • Lock all vehicle doors and remove ANY food or wrappers • Make noise and slowly back away if a bear comes near — never run • Use designated trash containers • Contact 24/7 Security if a bear becomes persistent or aggressive • Water Pressure (Shared Well): The cabin runs on a shared mountain well. Water pressure can be lower than average, especially if multiple showers or sinks are running.
